A Fox News poll released Sunday shows some bad news for President Donald Trump. In a hypothetical election held right now, both Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden would beat President Trump. Biden would defeat Trump 47 percent to 40 percent, and Sanders would win 44 percent to 41 percent. The poll predicts President Trump would win against any other Democratic candidate, although those results fell within the margin of error.
Regarding which candidate Democratic primary voters prefer to run against Trump, Biden is leading the pack mong with 31 percent of the vote despite not having formally entered the presidential race. Sixty-seven percent of those polled said theywould like to see Biden take the step to make the formal announcement of his intention to run. Behind Biden is Sanders, with 23 percent. Behind him, Kamala Harris and Beto O’Rourke are tied with 8 percent of the vote apiece. And trailing everyone are Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker, polling at 4 percent each.
The poll reveals that Joe Biden should be in no rush to make his announcement. He is the leading candidate by a long shot, and he already is polling better than President Trump. As soon as he enters the campaign trail, he can say something that may drop his popularity.
President Trump, on the other hand, should look into investing in expert analysts who can tell him exactly what he needs to do to defeat Biden and Sanders. Clearly it is not a policy difference; Biden is far to the right of Sanders. Voters must have different reasons for why they prefer these two radically different candidates as opposed to President Trump.
Indeed, the poll shows that 51 percent of Democratic primary voters see it as their main priority to select a candidate who can beat President Trump, while 36 percent believe it is more important to back their most
According to Fox News, the poll was “based on landline and cellphone interviews with 1,002 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide, including 403 Democratic primary voters” and “has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for all registered voters and plus or minus five percentage points for Democratic primary voters.” Biden’s lead over Trump in the poll makes him the only Democrat to beat Trump outside the margin of error of the poll.
